As a Senior Engineer – BIM you will be part of a small team dedicated to implementing the Building Information Modelling methodology across TfL.
Your focus initially will be on the major construction projects, where you will engage with their internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness of the BIM Toolkit (TfL’s suite of BIM guidance and templates) and to ensure that they are applying it correctly and effectively. This will involve ensuring that a Common Data Environment (CDE) is in place, drafting project Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) and reviewing Information Management submissions from the contractor, such as the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
You will also be involved in developing and implementing strategy for BIM across all areas of the business, engaging with stakeholders in Engineering, Capital Projects, Operations and Maintenance, and others such as Asset Strategy, Programme Management, Document Control, and IT.
Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of the application of BIM and information management principles in organisations as defined in the BS EN ISO 19650 suite of standards.
- Broad understanding of content management systems (esp. Asite and Bentley ProjectWise).
- Broad understanding of a range of CAD Modelling platforms.
- Working knowledge of contract management (esp. NEC3 & 4).
- Good commercial awareness of developments in Digital Engineering products, processes, and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of relevant TfL standards.
Skills:
- Highly developed ability to engage with and manage stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate the BIM process and value proposition clearly and succinctly.
Experience:
- Experience of implementing the BIM process in a client environment.
- Experience of drafting client Exchange Information Requirements documents.
- Experience of reviewing BIM Execution Plans on behalf of the client.
- Experience of implementing a Common Data Environment on a large construction project.
- Experience of providing BIM support to major projects and/or maintenance organisation(s), where there are complex interfaces.
