We have a great opportunity for a Road Fleet Vehicle Manager to join the Vehicle Logistics Team. You will be responsible for TfL‘s Commercial Fleet ensuring the Fleet is operating in accordance with legislation and TfL’s company Vehicle and Environmental policies. Liaising with all Key Stakeholders across TfL organisation to plan and coordinate a cost-effective vehicle fleet programme in line with future planned requirements and business critical activities, including delivery of the Zero emissions/Electric Fleet strategy plan to meet the Mayors Clean Air Vehicle Policy. You will also implement and maintain cost savings and efficiencies through optimum vehicle utilisation.
Key Accountabilities
- Delivering the end-to-end process for co-ordination and maintenance of all Fleet vehicles to ensure that all road vehicles remain in good working order, are fit for purpose and comply with all relevant statutory regulations.
- The rolling vehicle replacement programme. This involves replacing long lease vehicles every 4 years, assessment and approval of new vehicle requests, as well as reviewing business requirements to ensure best value is being achieved through the optimisation of requested vehicles.
- Delivering a Zero Emissions Fleet in line with the Mayors Clean Air Vehicle Policy, changing out 1000 + vehicles to achieve a Zero emission Road Fleet by 2030.
- Using industry and market knowledge to effectively collaborate with various parties on the development of the charging strategy in line with public commitments in Mayor’s Transport Strategy, TfL Corporate Environment Plan and TfL Green Strategy.
- Conduct regular reviews with Commercial team and suppliers to monitor performance and spend against Key Performance and Service Delivery Indicators as outlined within contractual agreements, ensuring best value is achieved through all existing commercial agreements.
- Act as operational lead for all new tendering requirements in the area, advising on scope of works and evaluating bids.
- Continual reviews to streamline and enhance current processes, delivering a more sustainable and straightforward experience for the business.
- Implementation of efficiencies, through optimum vehicle utilisation. Achieving savings through Fleet size reduction or the re-purposing of underutilised existing vehicles
- Managing, motivating, and developing the team to enhance skills and capability, ensuring both personal development and the delivery of excellent customer service.

Knowledge
- Knowledge of Service Delivery activities to support a complex Road and Rail Logistics Department.
- Knowledge of Fleet Management, i.e., vehicle leasing, short term hire and working with vehicle manufacturers, models and specifications.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, guidance and good practice.
- Knowledge of effective Supply Chain Management and delivery of Value for Money.
- Development of Continuous Improvement for enhancement of Customer Experience.
Experience
- Experience in a Service Delivery role including Fleet Management and Customer Service.
- Proven track record of implementing Business Strategies and Change Initiatives.
- Experience in Building Capability through strong Team Leadership.
- Experience within the Transport Industry.
- Experience working with a large and diverse customer base.
- Maintaining and managing a supply chain with a proven ability to negotiate to achieve best value.
- Experience in the Zero Emission Fleet market and trends desirable.
