Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

Overview of role


We have a great opportunity for a Content Developer responsible for developing, preparing, and editing content for a variety of course materials using communication methods tailored to each solution


You will design training packages using a range of software tools, including MS Office and e-learning platforms. This involves creating scripts and storyboards, producing digital graphic designs, and delivering creative solutions for the business through digital authoring software, photography, filming, graphic design, and animation where applicable.


The role also requires influencing best practices in technology adoption to enhance design content, while maintaining accountability for project costs, timelines, and investment programs specific to assigned lines or projects.


Key Accountabilities

 

  • Deliver engaging, impactful and compliant digital and non-digital products that meet defined business objectives and learner needs and integrate with learning management systems.
  • Drive proactive training development based on external market insights and promote best practices in technology-enhanced learning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, while maintaining accountability for alignment with project goals and internal and external project timelines.
  • Ensure pre-development conditions are met by verifying the availability and functionality of necessary tools, applications, data, subject matter experts and access credentials, enabling seamless content development.
  • Guarantee the quality and completeness of course materials, ensuring the contents are tested and ready for a smooth transition from design to delivery stages.
  • Research and integrate innovative technologies and methodologies into course designs, collaborating with internal teams to embed cutting-edge learning solutions in the organization.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop compliant, high-performing learning content that aligns with organisational standards and operational needs.
  • Collaborate with the Skills Design Specialists to ensure learning interventions address identified learning objectives, outcomes and learner needs effectively.
  • Align learning solutions with Competence Management principles, working closely with internal stakeholders to maintain organisational and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and promote best-practice learning solutions, showcasing their value and effectiveness to sponsors and stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.

Skills

  • The ability to learn new software quickly (Essential)
  • Ability to create content using instructional design tools (Articulate Story line and Adobe Captivate) (Essential)
  • Work consistently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in the formulation of subject matter learning resources (Essential)
  • Understand client requirements to create and amend existing content (Essential)
  • Ability to apply a variety of different tools to test content to detect issues before quickly identifying how to fix them (Desirable)
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and communicate, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally and to influence (Desirable)
  • Responsible for processes, systems and procedures and ensuring they are accurately completed (Desirable)


Knowledge

  • Understanding of SCORM e learning standard and the technical structure of digital learning courses (Essential)
  • Good understanding of the Instructional Design Principles used to develop materials (Essential)
  • An understanding of the composition and functions of an organisation wide Learning Management System (Essential)
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of all development suite products, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign etc; (Essential)
  • Advance use of MS Word and PowerPoint and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel (Essential)


Experience

  • Extensive experience using industry standard content authoring tools and content management systems (Essential)
  • Working with subject matter experts to ensure learning content and design meets the business need (Desirable)
  • Experience of MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) (Essential)
  • Experience of taking a concept and transforming it to a deliverable learning output (Essential)
  • Substantial, proven experience of using a variety of media and photography and identifying visual material that is appropriate for incorporation into learning resources (Desirable)
  • Proven experience in managing the development and completion of a diverse range of learning resources to deadlines (Essential)

We are currently recruiting for 2 vacancies (Secondment/FTC and Permanent). Please indicate on your application your 1st and 2nd preference. 


As part of this role, you will be working in safety critical environments; therefore, Occupational Health Clearance may be required. 


This role requires you to travel to other TfL/LUL locations from time to time.
