Hybrid working, within this role enables a balance of 60 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

Overview of Role
The Schools Learning Assistant will be crucial in enabling the efficient coordination and smooth running of the school’s programmes at London Transport Museum. They will create and maintain clear and effective systems online and offline to support administration, resource management, communication, planning, logistics and set up. As a member of the schools team, they will share responsibility for forging positive relationships with a range of people including staff, freelancers, volunteers and audiences, occasionally stepping in to cover or support delivery at critical moments.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide administrative support to the schools and wider learning programmes including maintaining mailboxes, setting up and minuting departmental meetings, overseeing the booking and use of spaces, gathering and collating evaluation and monitoring data and assisting with volunteer record keeping
- Manage and maintain resources and equipment used within the school’s team and wider department including IT equipment and learning materials and provide support for the maintenance of the object handling collection
- Assist with the organisation and set up of teacher events, school sessions, volunteer training and induction and other activity (on site and virtually) as required
- Supporting the delivery of the STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Maths) Ambassador programme including managing communications with the STEM Ambassador pool, promoting STEM Ambassador opportunities, organising and delivering training, reporting STEM Ambassador activity and liaising with key stakeholders
- Schedule volunteers and freelancers across the school’s programme, managing communications to ensure freelancers and volunteers have the necessary practical information to support booked sessions
- Support the delivery of volunteer and freelancer training, school sessions and providing occasional event support for wider learning programmes. Optional opportunity to train to become short notice cover for the delivery of school sessions
- As part of the wider school’s team, support with the programming and marketing of school’s activity throughout the year
- Keep excellent relationships and communication with other LTM departments including but not limited to operational and front of house teams
- Liaise with key stakeholders, responding to internal and external enquiries and requests for information
- Other duties as agreed with line management
Skills, knowledge and experience
Skills
- Excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills and attention to detail (Essential)
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage time effectively to meet deadlines (Essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable in communication with a range of people (Essential)
- Able to demonstrate initiative in solving problems as well as sound judgement on when to refer issues to managers (Essential)
- Confidence in engaging informally with audiences and readiness to ‘pitch in’ when necessary (Essential)
Knowledge
- Interest in educational engagement (Essential)
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office products, able to learn new software and database packages (Essential)
- Knowledge of schools and education in the UK (Desirable)
- A basic knowledge of and interest in, the history of London and its transport (Desirable)
Experience
- Experience of providing administrative support to a programme (Essential)
- Experience of working as part of a team, fostering a collaborative spirit (Essential)
- Experience of liaison with a range of stakeholders including internal teams, volunteers and school staff (Desirable)
- Experience of delivering excellent customer care (Essential)
- Experience in ordering and maintaining resources (Desirable)
