Job title: Inspection Supervisor (Days) 

Salary: £56,179 to £76,306                                                     

Location –Northern Line -  Based:  Edgware Depot, London.

Shifts – Mon-Friday (Days) –  Some Weekends as required.

Job Purpose

To ensure the visual and measured Safety Critical Inspections are completed to program and maintain compliance with visual and measured Inspection standards.

To mitigate inspections and defects using the Temporary Approved Non Compliance process and escalate all non-compliances process and escalate all non-compliances in an efficient and timely manner Use the automated time based reports to demonstrate effective compliance management


Accountabilities

  • Deliver the visual and measured Safety Critical Inspections to program
  • Measure compliance by using the correct reporting tools from the Computerised Asset Management systems
  • Responsible for the correct classification of faults identified during shift and reporting faults to the Engineering & Planning teams efficiently
  • Ensure the relevant information is recorded for risk and frequency assessments for Inspection activities
  • Responsible for the application of Temporary Approved Non Compliance Process  and maintaining compliance
  • The job holder must be committed to the the Company’s safety and environmental programmes and be aware of their contribution to the programmes, including the requirement to monitor safety and environmental performance and compliance with the systems established to assist in maintaining high standards.
  • The job holder must be familiar with the safety legislation that is relevant to this post and comply with the necessary statutory requirements.  These will include the Health & Safety at Work Act, Fire Precautions Act and associated regulations.
  • Prepare detailed resource estimates and implementation plans for track asset maintenance, repair, minor renewals and minor modification regimes. Ensure these estimates and plans are assured by regular inspections, monitoring and analysis of service performance, with particular regard to Company safety directives and associated Business unit procedures, quality and cost factors, and take remedial action where appropriate.

  • Commercial & Financial Awareness
  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proven ability to communicate with people at all levels, including both external and internal stakeholders

Knowledge 

  • TANC Approved Manager [TAM]
  • Ability to hold and maintain relevant licenses T001/2 PM3/4 S1176/S1175
  • Hold and maintain relevant PWT license.(Desirable)
  • Hold and maintain a Full UK Driving License
  • Temporary Approved Non Compliance [TAP] certified
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety rules, regulations and legislation in the railway environment (Essential)
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement best practice
  • Knowledge of Track systems/Standards/Construction techniques
  • Detailed knowledge of Track Inspections both plain line and for point & crossings (Essential)

Experience 

  • Leadership and management experience of managing performance (LU / TfL and Agency teams) in an operational, people intensive environment
  • Experienced in risk and strategic safety management in the Track environment
