Salary: Circa £39,000 (dependent on skill, knowledge and experience)

Hybrid working, within this role enables a balance of 50% of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

Overview of Role
Digital Engineering within TfL encompasses a range of activities all of which are designed to exploit the use of engineering information technology and to drive the business forward using intelligent and connected data. This is brought together within a Digital Engineering strategy for the business and aligned to an overall Digital strategy for TfL.
This Digital Engineering role provides specialist technical services that work in the engineering information space, for instance, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and the capture and analysis of Survey and Asset Condition data.
This role requires skilled specialists in their field utilising a range of Digital Engineering tools, which will enable the capture and manipulation of the data in the virtual environment, to inform a whole range of asset management and operational decisions. Digital Engineering makes use of good quality, reliable digital asset information to make effective asset management decisions.
Key Accountabilities
- Focuses on the production of digital engineering design models and illustrations within their stated discipline or functional specialism, through the application of specialist CAD, simulation and illustrative software tools aligned to relevant standards and governance
- Maintains awareness of applicable standards, design guidance and regulation codes applicable to their discipline or functional specialism
- Maintains working knowledge of industry standard design software, applicable to their discipline or functional specialism
- Supports continuous improvement through the use of best practice, innovation, whole life cost optimisation and effective root cause analysis

Skills
- Practitioner with developed skill in the use of CAD (Autodesk) applications and mainstream affiliated traffic engineering software, such as Transoft (previously Keysoft) Solutions software to produce high quality traffic and engineering design drawing and graphical information - essential

Knowledge
- Good knowledge and understanding of CAD (Autodesk), Civil 3D, Infraworks, & Vehicle Tracking simulation, Adobe Illustrator and mainstream affiliated traffic engineering software, such as Transoft Solutions (previously Keysoft) software - essential
- Basic level knowledge of BIM, GIS and other associated digital engineering tools and their application – essential
- Basic level knowledge of Highways & Traffic Engineering and or a relevant engineering discipline or functional specialism such as Civil Engineering or Infrastructure - essential
- Basic level knowledge of Traffic Control Systems and Traffic Signalling Layout Diagrams - desirable
- Basic understanding of the interfaces between own discipline / functional specialism and the wider transport system - desirable
- Basic level of commercial awareness of developments in BIM, CAD, GIS products, asset information systems, processes and industry best practices - desirable
- Basic knowledge of relevant TfL, British and International standards - desirable
- Basic awareness of the TfL business, its obligations and priorities - desirable

Experience
- Experience working in a CAD, GIS & BIM environment working to industry standards, within a team providing professional digital engineering support to both minor schemes and major projects, where a methodical and analytical approach to work is required - essential
- Experience of building relationships and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels mainly within and occasionally outside of the organisation - desirable
