The area of deployment for initial assignment will be within the London Underground Engineering Maintenance Assurance team, focussed on the assurance of rolling stock. The team is accountable for independent risk-based assurance of the maintenance regime across all London Underground (LU) assets, ensuring that they are being maintained and modified in accordance with the relevant fleet’s maintenance regime, legislation, TfL and LU Standards and industry good practice. However, future assignments could potentially include, but are not limited to, Engineering Vehicle maintenance and renewals, LU rolling stock Commercial Support and depot rolling stock support engineering (Underground or Tram fleets).
For this initial assignment day-to-day focus will be on delivering all activities within the Maintenance Assurance lifecycle; providing confidence to the Head of Profession and Head of Delivery that the assets are compliant with the relevant train maintenance regime, ensuring appropriate mitigation is in place for any identified non-compliances; identifying key areas of non-compliance and providing guidance and support to London Underground (LU) capital delivery to remedy them.
You’ll need to have worked within a Rolling Stock engineering role previously and be aware of recent developments and best practices in public transport and rolling stock. On a personal level, it’s your passionate proactivity, confident dealings with internal and external stakeholders and clear focus on the commercial impact of your work that will set you apart.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
• Degree in a relevant discipline (mechanical, electrical or combination thereof) and working towards engineering Chartership, or;
• equivalent apprentice route qualification (at Level 4) with experience in a relevant industry and might be working towards professional recognition,
• Demonstrable experience of technical delivery in a rolling stock Engineering environment.
• The ability to devise and deliver a consistent and independent risk-based surveillance and audit regime across multiple asset areas which are driven by the LU Quantitative Risk Assessment
• The ability to analyse multiple, complex datasets to draw conclusions and produce well-presented reports.
• Building positive relationships with, and influencing, a wide range of stakeholders at all levels within and outside of the organisation.
