Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between on-site and home over a 4-week period in line with current company policy. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

Day-to-day, your focus will be on delivering designs, drawings, information, calculations, and enhancements that keep vital, innovative, and big-budget projects moving. You’ll make sure assets are safe, working, and compliant; develop your own solutions; and be a trusted source of engineering advice for everyone, including our Heads of Engineering Delivery.

 

Key Accountabilities

Providing Civil Engineering input in support of TfL operations, strategy, projects, and asset management. This may include discipline specific engineering, construction engineering / temporary works and project engineering input.

Safeguarding the safety, integrity, sustainability, and efficiency of the Civil Engineering assets at all stages in the asset life cycle through engagement in planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, inspection, and assessment of temporary and permanent civil engineering systems.

 

Knowledge 

  • Ideally either a Member or working towards Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or other relevant internationally recognised institution
  • Knowledge of legislation, technical standards, and industry best practice relevant to Construction Engineering delivery 
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental considerations applicable to Construction Engineering / Temporary Works
  • Knowledge of Construction Engineering / Temporary Works design, construction, operation and maintenance systems on Civil Engineering and other discipline specific assets 

Skills

  • Ability to undertake construction of Civil Engineering or other discipline specific systems, temporary works, and assets under supervision 
  • Ability to assess the condition of Civil Engineering or other discipline specific systems, temporary works, and assets under supervision 
  • Ability to maintain and undertake asset management of some Civil Engineering or other discipline specific systems, temporary works and assets
  • Ability to plan, undertake and supervise the construction of Civil Engineering or other discipline specific systems 

 

Experience

  • Experience in some or all: Civil Engineering and Temporary Works or other discipline specific design, handover, operation, and maintenance 
  • Temporary Works Coordinator or working towards the required competency for the role
