An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Engineering and Asset Strategy Directorate for a Data Quality Officer. You will focus on implementing good data quality management practices and methods for the asset data that is maintained across the directorate. You will also produce accurate and timely auditing data, scores and reports to drive continual improvement to asset data.

 

Overview of role

  • Support the development of the Asset Management Data and Information Strategy through providing subject matter expertise using best practices for assuring asset and operational data.
  • Produce regular reports with the results and outcomes from data assurance that will support with identifying poor performance and opportunities for data improvements.
  • Undertake on-site and desktop based auditing for asset and operational data that is maintained across the directorate.
  • Responsible for providing consistent and accurate reporting on data and ensure it is available for performance management.
  • Responsible for ensuring updates to inventory data within asset management systems are audited to appropriate levels to maintain and improve accuracy and meet any contractual or business requirements.
  • Responsible for raising data errors, omissions and quality issues with asset data to the Data Quality Manager and support in the resolution of data quality related incidents.
  • Provide stakeholders and data collectors with continuing guidance on asset data standards, methods and format requirements.
  • Maintain internal auditing records following internal processes and guidance set out by the Data Quality Manager, Rules and contractual requirements.

 

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Degree qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent business experience (Essential)
  • Experience of using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology or similar mapping software (Essential)
  • Experience in producing reports, analysing data quality through queries and data improvement tasks (Essential).
  • In depth knowledge of data assurance techniques for data quality assessment and reporting (Essential).
  • Proven knowledge of asset data and/or information management (Essential).
  • Knowledge of Asset Management Systems (or other systems/databases), interrogating them and extracting data for supporting business decisions (Essential).
  • Experience of assessing and assuring data against requirements and performance indicators (Essential).
  • Understanding of Health and Safety legislation, policies and practices.
  • Experience of using data auditing hardware and software.
  • Experience of working within a transport/auditing/asset management environment
