About the Role

Transport for London is seeking an experienced Energy and Carbon professional to join the Sustainability, Energy and Carbon team on a 12-month fixed-term contract or secondment.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering TfL's Net Zero ambitions and supporting the decarbonisation of one of the UK's largest and most complex organisations.

As TfL continues its journey towards net zero operations, this role will help shape the strategic direction of energy and carbon initiatives across the business. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will lead and support programmes focused on reducing energy consumption, lowering carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, and driving sustainable outcomes across TfL's operational estate.

 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the development and delivery of energy and carbon reduction initiatives across TfL.
  • Supporting decarbonisation programmes for buildings and operational assets.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
  • Analysing energy and carbon data to inform decision-making and drive performance improvements.
  • Providing expert advice on energy management, sustainability and carbon reduction.
  • Working closely with procurement teams to embed environmental requirements into contracts and supplier relationships.
  • Building strong relationships across the business to influence positive environmental change.
  • Supporting the delivery of TfL's wider environmental and sustainability objectives.

 

About You

We're looking for a motivated and knowledgeable energy and carbon specialist with a proven track record of delivering sustainability initiatives within a large and complex organisation.

 

Essential Experience

  • Experience developing and delivering energy efficiency and decarbonisation programmes.
  • Experience in energy and carbon reporting, monitoring and target setting.
  • Experience providing technical advice on energy and carbon matters to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working on projects that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Experience supporting organisational change and influencing stakeholders.

 

Essential Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of energy management and energy efficiency best practice.
  • Knowledge of carbon management and decarbonisation strategies.
  • Understanding of climate change, UK energy policy, and the challenges associated with achieving net zero.

 

Essential Skills

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
