Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period.Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.  

 

Overview of the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join TfL’s Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) team as an Assistant SHE Environment Manager. You will help shape and deliver TfL’s environmental strategy, working with teams across the organisation to support environmental improvement and ensure best practice is embedded into everyday operations.

In this role you will:

  • Support the development and implementation of TfL’s corporate environmental plan
  • Coordinate and track environmental activities and progress
  • Provide technical advice on environmental issues across the business
  • Support  and contribute to procurement and commercial activities  
  • Help interpret environmental performance data and support teams in taking effective action

 

This role is ideal for someone passionate about environmental impact, with a desire to contribute to meaningful city‑wide sustainability outcomes.

 

Key Accountabilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of environmental strategies and improvement plans
  • Providing environmental and technical advice to SHE teams and business areas
  • Contributing to tenders, procurement processes and contractor performance reviews
  • Interpreting environmental performance data and supporting teams to act on insights
  • Supporting environmental assurance activity and ensuring compliance with legal and best practice requirements

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Good knowledge of environmental management regulations and challenges relevant to TfL
  • Strong understanding of designing and evaluating environmental improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work at pace, manage competing demands and deliver key outcomes
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to explain environmental concepts clearly
  • Collaborative working style with strong diplomacy and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience identifying environmental issues across projects and operations
  • Ability to interpret environmental data and help others understand and use insights
