Location: Palestra/Hybrid  

Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.   

 

 

Job Purpose 

This role will support the delivery, management and coordination of the TfL Portfolio of Change and/or associated change initiatives. It will help ensure the successful and timely delivery of business change to achieve the benefits required to realise TfL's desired strategic outcomes within budget.

The role contributes to the effective planning, tracking and assurance of change initiatives, ensuring benefits are realised, risks are managed and governance is upheld.

The role will be assignment-based across the portfolio and project teams, and will work closely across both areas, with assignments either focusing on specific work packages/change initiatives, or to support ongoing day to day portfolio activities. 

 

Key Responsibilities

The role will be assignment-based and will rotate to support both portfolio definition and portfolio delivery. Accountabilities across these will vary, but the full breadth of accountabilities is outlined here:

  • Ensure all projects have clearly defined, measurable benefits with credible delivery plans. Support the tracking and updating of benefits at both project and portfolio levels
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on project and portfolio performance, coordinating inputs from the wider team and ensuring timely updates to governance forums and stakeholders
  • Take a proactive role in identifying, escalating and tracking risks and issues across projects and programmes, working with stakeholders to ensure appropriate mitigations are in place
  • Analyse project and portfolio data to identify trends and insights, presenting findings to stakeholders to inform decision-making and support targeted interventions
  • Support the planning and sequencing of change initiatives, mapping interdependencies and, where appropriate, leading on discrete work packages or managing small projects end-to-end
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure change management activities are delivered in line with implementation plans, including direct delivery of change activities and support for change readiness and closure. 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of standard P3M tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, SharePoints and Portfolio management systems.
  • Understanding of both quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques and insights generation.
  • Some knowledge of standard change management tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Understanding of communication and stakeholder engagement practice and techniques.
  • Some understanding of problem-solving approaches and techniques. 

 

Skills

  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to produce high quality reports and presentations to tight deadlines
  • Analytical thinking with a pragmatic approach to problem solving, making rational, evidence based recommendations
  • Good stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Good data analysis skills and the ability to compile high quality reports in a prompt and reliable manner
  • Ability to plan and deliver individual work packages to time, and cost and quality
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams and work under tight time constraints and deliver

 

Experience

  • Experience with a variety of project, programme or portfolio planning and management tools and methodologies
  • Exposure to benefits tracking, risk management and governance coordination
  • Experience supporting or managing governance processes and associated forums including producing progress and performance reporting
  • Experience in analysing, evaluating and interpreting different information sources (financial and non-financial, qualitative and quantitative) to a high standard
  • Experience of stakeholder management; communicating with key stakeholders, managing expectations and addressing concerns.
