The Safety, Health and Environment Directorate (SHE) provides support and holds the organisation to account on our core SHE requirements and outcomes. Our SHE Analysis & Direction team are looking for an individual to join them as a Data Administrator. You’ll ensure that high quality data is used by the rest of the team when generating data insights and support the improvement of data quality at source. You’ll need to work closely with the data & reporting team to fully establish data requirements and SHE business partners to understand challenges faced by the business in capturing SHE data.

 

Key Accountabilities

• Optimise processes for SHE data entry and data capture. Identify areas for improvement and contribute knowledge to work to develop them, including any efforts to automate elements. Ensure all process documentation is kept up to date in line with process changes.

• Identify data quality risks in processes and operations and work with colleagues and the business to reduce data errors. Monitor errors to identify trends and problem areas, flagging these to colleagues across SHE to help educate the business on the importance of correct data entry. Suggest system changes to address risk areas and problems.

 • Cleanse SHE data to ensure robust analysis can take place. Apply standard procedures and use professional judgment to ensure high quality output.

• Champion the importance of high quality data and the impact this has on decision making. Contribute to the development of briefing material.

• Support data reporting and analysis activity, working under the supervision of an Analyst or Principle Analyst on wider pieces of work.

  • Knowledge of producing business insight to drive strategy and decision making (Essential)
  • Good knowledge of underlying capabilities of key reporting software and how to leverage to support positioning of data (Essential)
  • Relevant practical experience (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety (Essential)

 

Experience

  • Experience in a role producing/cleansing data (Essential)
  • Experience in communicating complex information in an easily digestible manner (Essential)
  • Experience of using Power BI (Desirable)
  • Experience of using programming languages such as R or SQL (Desirable)
