Transport for London (TfL) keeps the capital moving and evolving. As one of the world’s most respected transport and infrastructure organisations, we deliver projects that shape London’s future, improving journeys, enhancing communities, driving innovation and cutting carbon.
We’re looking for a skilled Estimator to join our Group Cost Services team and support high impact programmes across rail, highways, traffic management, safety, technology and major infrastructure.
In this role, you’ll produce accurate and reliable estimates across a wide range of TfL programmes, from early design stages through to major capital delivery. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, QS teams, Commercial Managers and suppliers, you’ll ensure robust, data driven costing that enables confident decision making across the organisation.
You’ll be involved in:
• Civil engineering, rail, highways and traffic schemes
• Project management methodologies and process led delivery
• Contracting and commercial assurance
• Major infrastructure upgrades and city shaping projects
• Safety, carbon reduction and emerging technology programmes
Key Accountabilities
• Produce accurate, timely and standardised estimates across multiple portfolios
• Use benchmarking, cost intelligence and market insight to inform commercial decisions
• Collaborate effectively across engineering, project and commercial functions
• Assure external estimates and oversee external estimating support
• Contribute to estimating strategy, continuous improvement and data consistency
• Analyse complex information to identify and explain cost impacts
• Support TfL’s focus on sustainability, safety and innovation
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
You will bring:
• A background in engineering, quantity surveying, M&E, construction, or a similar technical field
• Strong understanding of civil engineering cost components, methodologies and construction technologies
• Experience estimating within infrastructure, transport, highways or major projects
• Interest in estimating, cost modelling, carbon costing and data driven approaches
• The confidence to work across multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly
• Analytical skills to interpret complex data and produce meaningful outputs
• Ideally you will have experience using estimating software, such as CCS Candy, RIB CotX, PRISM Estimating or a similar package, as well as standard Microsoft Office Programs, such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Whether you're an experienced Estimator or a professional from an engineering, QS or M&E background looking to take your next step, this role offers a unique opportunity to grow your career within a globally recognised organisation delivering some of London's most important projects.
