You will be responsible for delivering Fire Engineering services throughout the TfL Estate, defining scope, controlling business risk and compliance with associated standards. You will be required to use initiative and good judgement when responding to emerging situations deciding and agreeing appropriate actions with team members
Day-to-day, your focus will be on supporting projects by ensuring applications received, are compliant with the TfL mandatory process for obtaining Fire Authority and TfL approval for works.
- To produce, maintain, check, and distribute CAD drawings and associated documents, using systems databases and workflows that ensure that business, legislative (Fire Authority) obligations are satisfied and auditable.
- As the Compliance Engineer, your main function is to provide fire safety decisions that support TfL standards and follows fire safety legislation guidelines which will subsequently assist in producing accurate CAD plans to support the Tfl business.
- Liaising directly with colleagues across the business, including operations, maintenance, commercial development, infrastructure protection, procurement and regulatory authorities.
Skills
- Ability to manage own workload whilst part of a small specialist team
- Good oral and written communications skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships, influence behavioural change and engage with stakeholders at all levels up to and including senior executives
- Ability to plan multiple activities and meet strict deadlines
- Good IT skills
Knowledge
- Minimum of NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of applicable standards, design codes and legislation
- The Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order
- Working knowledge of BS 9999: Fire safety in the design, management and use of buildings
- Understanding and awareness of TfL standards
- Other related legislation and guidance as applicable
Experience
- Producing accurate communications under tight deadlines
- Experience of working in a small multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Similar support management level role
The ideal candidate will be required to have as a minimum, membership of any recognised institution and have a good knowledge of fire safety related legislation, guidance and standards as they apply in an underground/operational railway environment
