Overview of project/role
At Transport for London (TfL), Network Performance sits at the heart of keeping London moving. We monitor and improve the performance of the city’s road network, using real-time data, customer insights, and operational metrics. Whether it’s tracking service analysing bus journey quality, or managing road network disruptions, the team plays a vital role in shaping how millions of journeys are experienced every day. With a focus on continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation, Network Performance helps TfL deliver a safer, more efficient, and customer-focused transport system for everyone who lives, works, and travels in London.
As a Network Impact Manager, you’ll be helping to shape how planned improvements and works are delivered across London’s road network—making sure they cause as little disruption as possible. Working alongside the regional Lead Network Impact Specialist or the Works Master Planning team, you’ll be part of the strategic planning process that keeps the city moving. Your decisions will support the Mayor’s Transport Strategy, so you’ll be making a real impact on how people travel every day. If you enjoy thinking ahead, solving problems, and making a difference to Londoners, this could be the role for you.
Key Accountabilities
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of a five-year forward plan for coordinating planned works and events across London’s road network
- Support the creation of network performance insights—such as heat maps and corridor predictions—to help forecast and manage future impacts
- Assist with assessing schemes, planning works, and identifying ways to reduce traffic disruption
- Build strong working relationships with teams across TfL, local boroughs, and external partners to ensure smooth coordination of projects and interventions
- Help monitor how the network is performing against forecasts, and feed insights back into planning and decision-making
- Support the review of works proposals from boroughs and TfL teams, ensuring they’re assessed efficiently and in line with strategic objectives
- Liaise with scheme promoters and stakeholders to ensure plans are well understood and impacts are managed
- Compare predicted and actual performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Attend site meetings when needed, helping to resolve any issues that arise
- Contribute to the impact assessment of major strategic projects—such as Brent Cross, High Speed 2, and Tideway—ensuring they align with the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and minimise disruption
