Overview of project/role

 

Predominantly CAD/desk based role, supporting the Cycle Hire station delivery programme. Later on in the role there will be an opportunity to work with stakeholders in conforming and establishing BIM protocol and compliance within the team. While basic CAD skills are required, there will be training. Attitude and the desire to learn are probably more important.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • As client, identify appropriate sites for cycle hire relocation, using CAD in designing sites, and managing construction and installation of all cycle hire relocation sites as part of the Surface capital renewals programme, giving updates to the Infrastructure Manager when required.
  • Work in partnership with external contractors, service providers and stakeholders to deliver agreed sites to time and cost.
  • Build and manage relationship with local authorities/boroughs and relevant agencies, developer liaison including finance as well as manage engagement with local stakeholders to facilitate the ability to build further stations.
  • Establish and operate effective and structured operational relationships with other internal stakeholders in Cycle Hire, Surface and TfL teams to enable stations to be progressed as per requirements.
  • Establish and operate effective and structured operational relationships with other areas of Sponsored Services, other TfL teams, service providers local authorities/Boroughs and relevant agencies.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on asset status for key stakeholders as required to influence decision making.
  • To assist with the delivery of in-flight asset development projects and operational activities. Undertaking pro-active action in relation to resolving asset issues and incidents, escalating them to the Cycle Hire infrastructure Manager.

 

 

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience

 

 

Skills

  • Strong basic CAD skills – understanding of UCS, dimensions, viewports and model space, objects and grouping, (Essential)
  • Excellent IT skills including Excel and SharePoint, (essential)
  • Strong project management skills, able to deal with complex transport projects (essential)
  • Highly motivated with the ability to motivate and encourage other agencies to work alongside TfL to deliver projects (essential)
  • Skilled in specifying technical requirements and translating into a commercial format (desirable)

 

 

Knowledge

 

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent business experience. (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) (essential)
  • Knowledge of outsourcing practices including managing multiple suppliers (essential)
  • Knowledge of Construction Health and Safety standards, Consents and Traffic Management (essential)
  • Detailed knowledge of contracts and commercial priorities in a public sector environment including writing business cases and contract changes. (desirable)
  • Knowledge of finance and procurement management during project delivery (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of the London Cycle Hire Scheme or a fundamental appreciation of the technical challenges of the scheme including site delivery. (desirable)
  • Excellent IT knowledge, including Excel and SharePoint, with particular focus on creating spreadsheets and graphs to interpret and communicate statistical data (essential)

 

Experience

 

  • Experience of involvement in design, construction and installation projects (essential)
  • Experience of project management and working on multiple workstreams simultaneously in a time critical delivery environment. (essential)
  • Experience of managing budgets, finance and procurement of suppliers for projects. (essential)
  • Experience in analysing data (including technical and financial) and making recommendations to senior managers for decision making (essential)
  • Experience identifying technical solutions to problems and managing them to completion. (Essential)

Fixed term contract for 12 months


As a fixed term contractor we can offer you a choice of pension arrangements. If you choose not to take our final salary pension scheme you will be paid an allowance on top of your salary, subject to Tax and National Insurance. We will share all the details with you at offer stage and the choice will be yours based on your circumstances. Depending on what you choose you can add up-to 14% to your salary.
