Transport for London (TfL) is responsible for keeping London moving, working, and growing. Our Public Transport Service Planning (PTSP) directorate plays a key role in planning the future of services across London Buses, DLR, London Overground, London Trams, London Underground, and the Elizabeth line. 

We are seeking someone skilled and motivated in Data & Analytics to join our team of Transport Planners. You will work with large, complex datasets from our ticketing systems, our operational systems, and from manual surveys to generate insights that directly inform how we plan and improve public transport services across the capital. We have a collaborative, inclusive team culture that values continuous learning and development.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Maintain and enhance our Bus Customer Journey Time Metric system, improving its accuracy, resilience, and analytical value.
• Lead research and analytical projects to support service planning and wider public transport development.
• Use data to understand customer behaviour, network performance, and the impact of service changes.
• Communicate findings clearly through visualisations and reports to support evidence-based decision-making.
• Leading the work of a small team on research and analytical projects  

We’re looking for someone with: 

• Strong experience in analysing large datasets using data tools such as Python / R, PowerBI, SQL, advanced Excel or other equivalents (Essential)
• Experience in data analysis, including data cleaning, transformation, and interpretation (Essential)
• Knowledge of how to apply statistical and/or economic modelling techniques to support informed decision-making (Desirable)
• Ability to create clear, impactful data visualisations using tools such as Power BI or similar (Essential); and in QGIS or other geospatial software (Desirable)
• A track record of using data to generate actionable insights and support strategic decisions (Essential)
• An understanding of public transport systems (Desirable)
