Overview
We are seeking an experienced SHE Environment Manager with specialist expertise in UK SRS and TNFD sustainability reporting, and climate change adaptation.
This is a strategically important role responsible for:

- Coordinating environmental, climate and sustainability reporting across TfL, including disclosures aligned with the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS) and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework.
- Embedding physical climate risk management into business decision-making. You will lead adaptation initiatives, influence senior stakeholders and support the delivery of sustainability objectives across a complex organisation.
The successful candidate will combine technical environmental expertise with strong organisational awareness, enabling effective risk management and reporting, regulatory compliance, and long-term climate change adaptation and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the organisation's subject matter expert on sustainability reporting, which will include, for example:
- Monitoring changes in sustainability reporting regulations, standards and investor expectations, and advise TfL on the implications and any required actions
- Working with finance, risk, operational and technical teams to collate, validate and analyse relevant information
- Supporting the development of integrated sustainability reporting that is compliant with relevant standards and demonstrates progress against TfL’s environmental and sustainability objectives
- Supporting internal and external assurance processes relating to sustainability reportingead the development and delivery of climate change adaptation and resilience workstreams, for example:
- Planning TfL’s fifth submission under the Adaptation Reporting Power
- Ensuring physical climate risks and opportunities are embedded within TfL’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Influencing and engaging stakeholders across the organisation to improve environmental performance and drive change
- Supporting procurement and commercial activities by embedding climate risk and adaptation considerations into contracts and supplier management
- Building adaptive capacity across the organisation
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in physical climate risk assessment.
- Significant experience developing and implementing climate adaptation or resilience programmes.
- Experience integrating climate-related risks into corporate or enterprise risk frameworks.
- Proven sustainability reporting (e.g., TCFD / ISSB / UK SRS, and ideally also TNFD) expertise.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written communication skills, including report writing and briefing paper preparation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance environmental, operational and organisational priorities.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of deliverables.
Desirable
- Experience within transport, infrastructure, engineering, utilities, public sector or other regulated environments.
- Professional membership of a recognised environmental or sustainability body.
- Degree qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Climate Science or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting procurement, supplier management or commercial functions.
