Job Purpose

Transport for London (TfL) is leading the world in transport innovation, from contactless ticketing to the delivery of the transformational Elizabeth line. By 2030, 10 million people will live in London, and millions more will visit every year. As an organisation, we have to evolve at pace to keep the city moving. At the same time, like all modern businesses, we have to think carefully about increasing efficiency and effectiveness.

As a Senior Change Design Manager, you’ll be at the heart of major internal transformations and future improvements, working on a multimillion-pound portfolio. You’ll work closely with the business to identify, scope and design operating model responses to TfL’s most pressing strategic challenges.  It’s an opportunity to lead complex, large-scale projects and programmes: tackling multifaceted problems and working with senior-level stakeholders throughout the organisation. You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your work makes a difference to millions of people every day.

You’re likely to have significant experience working at a senior level on large and complex change programmes. Used to engaging with board-level colleagues, you’ll be capable of quickly building strong relationships, establishing trust and credibility, and providing change advice and influence. You’ll bring a creative, enquiring mind with a willingness to adapt your expertise to diverse projects. You’ll also be tenacious in pursuit of improvement. Quick to grasp business challenges, you’re someone who can cut through irrelevant detail, reduce complex problems to their essence, and come up with a compelling case for change. You will also be an experienced leader who develops others and will make a positive impact on the change team and change community at TfL.

You’ll be experienced in the following:

  • Scoping, designing and delivering business and Operating Model change
  • Leading large and complex change programmes to deliver successful outcomes
  • Understanding of project and programme management across the whole business change project lifecycle
  • Engaging effectively with a variety of stakeholders, challenging and influencing as necessary
  • Developing business cases and feasibility studies, with a strong return on investment ethos
  •  Organisational designApplying a wide range of analytical methods including strategy, commercial, customer and business modelling techniques
  • Working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change rapidly

In addition to being skilled in:

  • Planning, organising, and solving complex problems
  • Developing credibility with stakeholders and tailoring messaging for different groups
  • Making convincing arguments for change, both in writing and through presenting
  • Attending to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
  • Leading, developing, and motivating staff, including matrix and virtual management
