Overview of project/role 

About the Role

• We are looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the technical delivery and operational stability of our business critical applications. This role focuses on ensuring the smooth running of complex live systems, supporting development and operations teams in delivering reliable, secure, and high-performing applications. 
• As the Principal DevOps Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in diagnosing and resolving issues, improving deployment processes, and driving service resilience. You will be the bridge between software development, operations, and architecture, ensuring applications perform optimally in production. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operational support and maintenance of live applications across multiple environments. 
• Oversee incident, problem, and change management processes to ensure service continuity. 
• Collaborate with development and architecture teams to design solutions that are supportable, observable, and resilient. 
• Drive improvements in application security, monitoring, alerting, and performance optimisation. 
• Analyse recurring issues to identify automation or process improvements. 
• Provide technical guidance during major incidents and post incident reviews. 
• Mentor and support DevOps engineers in adopting best practices for live service management. 

About You

• Extensive experience supporting and maintaining enterprise scale applications in production. 
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles, cloud platforms (ideally Azure), and CI/CD concepts. 
• Practical experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Application Insights, Log Analytics or Splunk). 
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across application, network, and infrastructure layers. 
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams. 
• A proactive mindset with a passion for service reliability and continuous improvement. 

Desired Certifications 

Holding one or more of the following certifications will be advantageous: 

• Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400) 
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) 
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
