Our Technology Development team sits within the Technology and Data Directorate of TfL, and is at the heart of developing systems to keep pace with the ever changing face of London. Following our successful launch of Contactless ticketing, our in-house development teams are now responsible for building and enhancing the online, revenue and corporate systems of the future, truly ensuring that Every Journey Matters. 

 

Our software development teams are passionate about Agile. We are looking for dynamic, motivated and engaging individuals to join us as Agile Scrum Masters. You will be responsible for championing Agile processes and helping our teams deliver critical software systems for London’s travelling public.  

 

We are looking for someone who has been working as a Senior Scrum Master for the last 5 years and is looking for their next challenge in a complex environment. 

 

The Role:

 

You will be acting as a Senior Scrum Master in complex multi-team deliveries.

You’ll be removing team’s impediments so our internally developed software is of the highest quality, meeting the needs of TfL and our customers. 

Other key tasks will include being a servant- leader, protecting the Agile process by organising and helping to facilitate agile events, such as daily stand-ups, sprint retrospectives, sprint reviews for the team; development of process improvements and making recommendations to the wider TfL Agile community, enacting positive change where it is appropriate.

 

What we are looking for

 

Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge of Agile best practice, lean techniques, Scrum and Kanban. [Expected]
  • Good working knowledge of Agile tools and techniques: - Version Control / Collaboration / Issue & Task Management / Continuous Integration/TDD and BDD [Expected]
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of planning and project management tools and techniques, within Agile environments. [Expected]
  • Broad Knowledge of Software Delivery methodologies and practices Eg. ITIL and software architecture. [Expected]
  • Certified Scrum Professional Scrum Master [Desirable] and Advanced Certified Scrum Master or equivalent [Expected]
  • Degree, or equivalent qualified in a relevant subject area is desirable (e.g. Information Technology). [Desirable] 

 

Skills

  • Excellent skills in communication, influencing, facilitation, participatory decision-making and constructive conflict resolution. [Expected]
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people within the delivery team including project managers, business analysis and development team to help track team progress and identify blockages and help PO and dev team to remove impediments.[Expected]
  • Broad software development / test analysis awareness, esp. in MS technology stacks, Azure and C#, JAVA [Desirable]
  • Ability to help coach the product owner to help define system specs to maintain a healthy backlog.


Experience 

  • Experience of mobile application development (desirable)
  • Extensive experience as a Scrum Master, or facilitator of Agile teams working within Agile software development environments demonstrating continuous improvement and transparency. [Expected]
  • Effective experience working with multiple Agile teams in Scrum of Scrum or other scaled Agile frameworks.
  • Broad experience managing the full IT delivery cycle.
    Experience of a range of software projects with ticketing and payments experience being highly desirable
  • Delivering coaching and training workshops to support less experienced members of the team and the wider business.
