Salary: £40,000.00 (Rising to £44,800.00 once full competencies are complete) +30% Unsocial hours allowance which is over a 3 shift pattern, Early, Lates and Nights roster

Overview of project/role
The Senior Maintenance Support Technician Crossrail is responsible delivery of safety of line inspections, asset monitoring, maintenance, like for like renewal and enhancements prioritisation, asset stewardship and life / performance optimisation. This will include asset stewardship design, infrastructure inspection, asset data management, intelligent / risk-based prioritisation and the safe delivery of reliability centered maintenance. 
 
Initially, the Senior Maintenance Support Technician Crossrail will assist the PMST ensuring that the new Crossrail railway can be brought into service and be maintained safely, efficiently and effectively delivering defined Crossrail performance requirements.
 
Upon introduction of Crossrail into operation, the Senior Tech will assist the PMST in their responsibilities for the safety critical deployment and tactical supervision of the maintenance teams with prioritisation of work and execution in relation to maintenance engineering stewardship plans as part of cross functional teams
The Senior Technician will assist the Principal Maintenance Technicians and Delivery supervisors in their responsibilities for the safety critical deployment and tactical direction of the maintenance teams with technical decision authority and execution of maintenance engineering stewardship plans.

 

Key Accountabilities 

  • Assist the PMST in delivering the overall safety of line and safety critical asset / systems inspection, compliance, work prioritisation, quality and tactical deployment requirements. This includes completion, validation and review of infrastructure inspections, quality checks and self assurance checks.
  • Support the DIME in establishing the intervention regime and the management of maintenance engineering stewardship to enable the defined Crossrail standards, processes, procedures and performance to be delivered. The level of intervention includes replacement of assets when re-design is not required. 
  • Deliver maintenance deployment planning with operations colleagues, ensuring that the operational requirements align with the maintenance engineering asset management requirements and deliver a compliant, safe, operable and maintainable railway including the undertaking of on-call duties.
  • Ensure Infrastructure and Asset maintenance standards are met by applying established policies and procedures to ensure safety and functional limits are included in the design and construction phase.
  • Implement the operating model for continuous improvement; specifically using Reliability Based Maintenance as part of the "Predict and Prevent" asset stewardship strategy.


Skills, Knowledge & Experience 
Skills

  • Team leader experience with leadership skills to motivate professionals from multiple disciplines. 
  • Excellent communication skills with proven negotiation and influencing skills explicitly with external contractors
  • Excellent decision-making and analytical skills
  • Established risk management skills.
  • Ability to formulate and articulate clear visions for the planning and delivery of initiatives and programmes

Knowledge

  • Broad range of HVAC/MECH skills and willingness to learn other associated desirable skills within the MEP scope of works 
  •  In Depth good working Knowledge of A/C and associated systems and plant 
  • Strong knowledge of Air Conditioning and associated controls, efficient in HVAC systems - fault finding and maintenance. 
  • LUL or Network rail experience (desirable not essential)
  • HND, City and Guilds and FGAS qualification
  • Member or Associate of a relevant professional institution (such as ICE, IstuctE, ImechE / IEE / IRSE)
  • Demonstrable understanding of the business structure of and agencies associated with the Rail Industry
  • Demonstrable application of railway safety-related standards regime and processe
  • Knowledge of Network Rail Safety standards

Experience 

  • Experience in HVAC Systems, electrical and mechanical side
  •  Experience in fault finding in mechanical control panels and associated PLC experience  
  • Experience in the rail or other infrastructure and asset critical industries
  • Experience in the management of infrastructure stewardship and maintenance
  • Experience in the rail or other infrastructure and asset critical industries
  • Experience in the management of infrastructure stewardship and maintenance 
  • Experience of successfully managing a range of maintainers
  • Experience of producing and delivering maintenance engineering stewardship strategies.
  • Experience of working alongside other engineering functions.
