Overview of project/role
The Rail for London – Infrastructure Maintenance (RfLI-IM) team inspects, maintains and renews the Elizabeth Line railway infrastructure. It is a team of 275 operationally and safety- critical engineers, maintenance technicians and planners.  The Training Support Team Leader reports to the RfLI-IM Competence Assessment Manager. They are responsible for the coordination of external training and development activity across RfLI-IM to ensure all training, mentoring, and assessment is planned and run as safely, efficiently and effectively as possible.

 

Key Accountabilities 
•    Manage and plan external training, assessments and development programmes. Ensure members of the Elizabeth Line Maintenance Team attend training at suitable times and locations to maximise attendance and minimise conflict with business needs.
•    Manage the training and assessment processes. Ensure the processes are fit for purpose and drive continuous improvement. 
•    Oversee the end-to-end training and assessment process. Ensure full compliance with processes to enable the required planned and ad-hoc training and assessments.
•    Manage the training evaluation process and suggest improvements based on the feedback received. 
•    Manage and update training and assessment records to ensure the business has accurate, comprehensive records that can be relied on in a court of law.
•    Manage regular and ad-hoc reporting ensuring the information is current, accurate and fulfils business requirements. 
•    Advise and guide RfLI-IM managers to identify training and development needs. Develop and maintain competency profiles for the relevant job roles. Assist the RfLI-IM teams with Competence Management.
•    Support the team in the development of training, assessments and development programmes to ensure both organisational and individual needs are met.
•    Manage bookings of training and assessment, making sure everything is in place to allow events to run as efficiently and smoothly as possible. 

 

Financial Impact
•    This role is responsible for the efficient delivery of external training, minimising cost or increasing productivity (where possible) and maximising attendance at training events to ensure compliance with safety and technical standards and drive productivity.

•    RfLI-IM Managers and colleagues to ensure their training requirements are met.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience 
Skills
•    Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including experience of working in an environment that requires communicating with a wide range of senior internal and external stakeholders. (essential) 
•    Intermediate to advanced IT skills including Outlook, Word, Excel (including complex formulas), and SharePoint. (essential)
•    Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.  (essential)
•    Task focussed with methodical approach to work paying close attention to detail. (essential)
•    Use of SAP, My Know, Kallidus LMS, MS SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat is (desirable).

Knowledge
•    Knowledge of how training, assessment and development programmes can be run efficiently and effectively. (essential)
•    Knowledge of rail, construction and/or engineering industries, or a keen interest to learn. (desirable)

Experience 
•    Working on own initiative, accurately and to tight deadlines, and to prioritise between conflicting demands. (essential)
•    Promoting and building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. (essential)
•    Supporting large or operational teams in a business support or administration capacity. (essential)
