Overview of project/role

 

To track Central Line 92 stock Performance Failure Trends and Irregularities in the Automatic Train Control (ATC) and Rail Adhesion Train Bourne / Track systems using Data analysis, Fault Finding techniques, Modifications and Commissioning in liaison with the Central Line ATC and Rail Adhesion Teams.

 

Key Accountabilities 

 

  • Establish the causes of problems leading to poor ATC performance & Identify solutions which will provide early improvement to ATC performance
  • Provide software support for suite of ATC software programmes to ensure support to the ATC Teams
  • Provide software support for ATC Track to ensure PAC route Run Data and Code Sweeps are supported
  • Produce regular reports to highlight opportunities for improvement and indicate likely levels of performance enhancement associated with Automatic Train Control on the Central Line.
  • Undertake Train Test (Occasional out of Office Hours) runs for Signals Testing and Trainbourne failures to assist to in Fault Finding with the ATC Team Work closely with, and utilise the resources of, Central Line ATC, Fleet Engineering and relevant OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturer) in scoping and developing Automatic Train Control system modifications and upgrades
  • Mentor and coach specialist ATC Systems staff, ensuring that their development needs, tools and systems they need to un Fulfil a project management role on behalf of the ATC group during planning and implementation of modifications/upgrades, providing progress reports and using appropriate performance metrics to demonstrate achievement of improvement targets
  • Build and Maintain relationships with key Stakeholders across departments to inform decision making. 

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience 

 

Skills  

  • Project Management, Planning, Software Programming and Development (Visual Basic, DOS and variants of C coding language).
  • Rolling stock fault finding experience desirable Electrical, electronic, and mechanical skills relevant to an engineering maintenance environment (Essential)
  • A self-starter capable of working on their own initiative (Essential)
  • Able to understand maintenance instructions and procedures (Essential).
  • Ability to be flexible & supportive to ensure team success (Essential).
  • Good record keeping (Essential).
  • Ability to work as a part of a highly focused team (Essential).
  •  Able to manage time and work to tight timescales (Essential).

 

 Knowledge 

 

  • ONC/HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Essential)
  • Must possess good knowledge in a Railway Environment Membership of a Professional Institution is considered advantageous.
  • Good IT or Hardware/software knowledge to support modern and legacy equipment

 

 Experience 

 

  • Rolling Stock Experience desirable Coaching and Mentoring Experience ATC Track / Train Experience Experienced in the use of standard software packages including Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Project and relevant industry software (Essential)
  • Experienced in the use of Programming software (Essential)
  • Relevant engineering experience i.e Rolling stock, Aviation, (Essential).
