Overview of project/role
The Railway Interface and Integration Manager will co-ordinate access requirements across all Capital Projects and Programmes and convert them into tangible access requests. As an access expert, the Railway Interface and Integration Manager will offer railway interface advice to project management teams and will assist with strategy to maximise and optimise working time.

While our team is composed by a variety of access experts on different rail modes, at this moment we are recruiting for a role mostly dedicated to deal and book Network Rail interface access, being this an essential requirement on the successful candidate. For this reason, we will only interview people already with PPS access.
Key Accountabilities
• Convert project/construction activities and high-level plans into tangible access requirements.
• Use own expert knowledge of access arrangements to establish the access requirements from signalling work plans.
• Develop and deliver collaborative and innovative solutions to access and railway interface problems.
• Effective stakeholder management and the ability to influence in decision making to secure required access.
• Assessing access strategies, programme options and identifying additional access opportunities in order to propose a cost and time effective way forward.
• Accountable for all securing access bookings related to weekend closures, track, depots, stations, trains and Network Rail.
• Liaise with key departments such as Access, maintenance and London Underground Capital Delivery (LUCD) to co-ordinate work across the business to ensure that all works can co-exist whilst meeting project requirements.
• Provide advice regarding access protection requirements in order to minimise cost whilst maintaining safety.
• Manage project access to minimise the opportunity for successful compensation events and frustrated access claims.
• Investigate and respond to frustrated access claims by the supplier as a result of dis-allowed access.
• Represent Capital delivered works at possession planning meetings and associated access meetings to ensure that all requirements are considered.
• Lead project access review sessions to co-ordinate all requests, advise on access and confirm project requirements to minimise unwanted Access.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience
Skills
• Ability to understand and interpret the Engineering publications such as engineering look ahead (Essential).
• Ability to read works plans and translate them into access and logistics requirements (Essential).
• Ability to interpret signal diagrams to advise on access requirements (Essential).
• Effective stakeholder management and the ability to negotiate and influence decision making (Essential).
• Excellent communications skills that allow clear requirements to be defined and coordinated into robust access plans (Essential).
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment and handle pressure arising from short term deadlines to achieve milestones (Essential).
Knowledge
• A good working knowledge of London Underground’s structure, operations and key priorities (Desirable).
• An expert knowledge of Rail Access and protection arrangements (Essential).
• Knowledge of RailSys booking system (Desirable).
• Knowledge of Network Rail booking system (PPS) (Essential).
• Awareness of safety issues in an operational railway environment (Desirable).
• Awareness of the key aspects of coordination of access to the Railway and an appreciation of the impacts that may result from poor planning of works in this critical environment (Essential).
• An understanding of basic installation and construction methods to be implemented in the requested access (Essential).
• An awareness of risks associated with working on the railway and the means to reduce and mitigate these through access arrangements (Desirable).
• A proven understanding of contractual issues in an access environment (Essential).
Experience
• Extensive experience in a railway management or project management environment (Essential).
• Experience of using RailSys access booking system (Desirable).
• A proven record as Access Planner (or similar) and experience of using Network Rail planning tools such as PPS, NROL, EAS, ACT, WIPP, SEACT, CRF (Essential).
• Experience planning isolations (Essential).
• Experience of working collaboratively and influencing key internal and external stakeholders (Essential).
• Demonstrated capability to provide expert knowledge when defining access requirements (Essential).
• Extensive exposure to the definition of simple and complex access arrangements (Essential).
• Demonstrated understanding of access factors that may impact the successful delivery of planned works (Desirable).
