Job title – Technical Assistant - Vegetation Dept.

Grade- SMD0

Salary- £50,000  

Location – Various TFL Location Sites

Contract Type – London Underground- Permanent

 

Overview of project/role 

 

Working with the Track Network Services Team the role is to provide a technical, planning, information and support function to the Vegetation Delivery Manager and Zonal Vegetation Contract & Operational managers to ensure that vegetation works and inspections are completed to safety, quality, cost, and time targets.

 

Key Accountabilities  

 

  • Vegetation related data collection, management, analysis, and reporting, to support the identification of improvements in the vegetation works processes, competency, and quality. Data could include trend identification, invasive species data and long-term plans etc held on asset management system(s) and SharePoint.
  • Manage vegetation delivery plan, allocating resources including labour, plant, and equipment when necessary.
  • Plan, agree and review schedules, costs and logistics with relevant internal maintenance teams and 3rd parties.  Ensure projects are properly planned and executed.
  • Project Manage small internal projects and trials of new plant, equipment and PPE and produce associated performance reports.
  • Develop new working methods and procedures.
  • Produce well-structured and presented reports, minutes, documents, and programmes.
  • Create & conduct periodic briefings, develop presentations, and issue work instructions to staff and managers.
  • Work closely with TfL suppliers, ensuring an appropriate knowledge transfer occurs to provide an overall service.
  • Maintain & manage records relating to the vegetation SharePoint management system and ensure that staff certification and licenses are up to date and book training where required.

  • Understanding of Vegetation & Fencing works, renewals, & repairs. (Desirable).

 

 Knowledge 

 

  • Working knowledge of engineering and railway rules, regulations, and legislation (Essential)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (Essential)
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety rules, regulations, and legislation in the railway environment (Essential)
  • Knowledge of relevant national/international legislation pertaining to Government/Public Sector e.g.  Data Protection, Freedom of Information Act and EU procurement (Desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Maximo (Essential)
  • Working knowledge of RailSys and access booking (Essential).
  • Working Knowledge of booking access within Possessions (Desirable).

 

Experience 

 

  • Proven experience of working in the track environment (Desirable)
  • Experience in chairing and recording meetings (Essential)
