Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for supporting the Operational Bus and Coach Service Delivery Training & Development team in the design, development and delivery of operational training programmes with the support of Operational Training & Skills Development (OTSD). It ensures that all operational staff are equipped with the skills, knowledge and competencies needed to deliver services safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
The post holder will contribute to all elements of the operational learning and development life cycle in partnership with OTSD. They will be required to manage and process confidential training information and must demonstrate a consistent ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
The role will also play a key part in shaping and enhancing the Bus and Coach Service Delivery training plan, ensuring that training content, delivery approaches and the overall learner experience are continuously improved and aligned with operational requirements.
Key accountabilities
- Shape and enhance the Bus and Coach Service Delivery training plan, ensuring that training content, delivery approaches and the overall learner experience are continuously improved and aligned with operational requirements.
- Deliver high quality operational training in classroom-based settings across multiple locations, adapting delivery style to diverse audiences and ensuring a consistent and engaging learning experience
- Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to determine training resource requirements. Assess delivery options, agree training schedules, update the central training plan and communicate course dates. Deputise for the Operational Training Process Design Manager at resource planning meetings as required.
- Collaborate with Service Delivery Managers and Customer Delivery Managers to drive alignment between training compliance and operational performance objectives; Facilitate regular performance reviews with SDMs and CDMs to track progress against training and operational targets, ensuring alignment with wider business objectives; monitor and report on training compliance across all of BCSD, proactively identifying risks and gaps and working with SDMs and CDMs to implement timely mitigation and plans
- Contributes effectively to the design, development, and implementation of the directorate’s training strategy, ensuring learning solutions are aligned to organisational priorities, operational needs and industry best practice.
- Provide operational training and information administration to ensure accurate and timely management information.
- Maintain operational support systems, research sources, file management processes and document retrieval systems. Ensure that SAP training and qualification records are updated promptly so that all staff training records remain accurate and current.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge
- A sound understanding of data protection legislation with the ability to apply relevant principles and ensure compliance when handling personal or sensitive information (Essential)
- In depth knowledge of Train the Trainer principles or a strong desire and commitment to work towards achieving a Train the Trainer qualification (Essential).
- A good understanding of the composition and functions of an organisational wide Learning Management System (Desirable)
- A sound understanding of technology and its role from e-learning to training administration systems, being computer literate with knowledge of SAP training and qualifications & licensing (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Bus and Coach operations and the operational requirements and procedures that impact on front line teams (Desirable)
- Knowledge of TfL Learning & Development current techniques and training methodologies (Desirable)
Skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills, enabling the effective scheduling and coordination of classroom based training in a fast paced operational environment (Essential)
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately, demonstrating discretion, professionalism and adherence to data protection requirements at all times (Essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective liaison with suppliers, contractors, internal stakeholders and training delegates (Essential)
- Proven ability to deliver classroom based training to frontline operational teams, ensuring content is relevant and aligned with operational standards (Desirable)
- Ability to achieve results through others, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the capability to influence and motivate
Experience
- Experience of communicating with internal and external stakeholders (Essential)
Experience of providing general team administrative support within an operational business area (Essential)
- Experience of supporting training delivery and planning (Essential)
- Experience of Microsoft Office applications (Essential)
- Experience of working in a busy high pressured and demanding environment (Desirable)
