Overview of role

 

Asset systems, data and planning are fundamental to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the London Underground network.

 

As Asset Systems Manager you will be accountable for the lifecycle management of asset management system(s) for a nominated asset group, with a particular focus on supporting effective asset planning and integration. Ensuring systems are fit for purpose, the role enables asset management strategies, compliant maintenance delivery and relevant Mayoral priorities to be translated into robust, data driven plans that underpin operational delivery.

 

Building on this, the role sets the direction through system roadmaps and prioritised plans, ensures system changes are delivered effectively, and leads the business change required to embed improved ways of working. You will champion asset management principles, systems and data, driving consistent and optimised practices across Asset Operations and maximising the value of enterprise asset management systems.

 

Key Accountabilities 

 

  • Accountable for ensuring our asset management and information systems, the data they contain and the processes they support meet the current and future needs of the business for their nominated asset area
  • Responsible for championing the strategic importance of asset systems and data to drive optimised asset management interventions and ensure delivery of compliant maintenance, inspiring users of asset systems and the data they provide to maximise the value derived from our asset management systems
  • Accountable for all system related change in asset area; including BAU support and system improvement projects.
  • Influences and engages with stakeholders to understand and agree priorities in order to identify improvement opportunities, establish system improvement roadmaps and delivery plans both in the short term and long term for their nominated asset area
  • Responsible for driving alignment and standardisation of asset systems, processes and data for their nominated asset area ensuring best practice is adopted and consistently applied.
  • Challenges stakeholder assumptions as well as pre-empting barriers to ensure that full benefits are realised
  • Build internal and / or external stakeholder support and give specialist advice for business improvement opportunities and for projects achieved through the effective use of asset data
  • Accountable for the end-to-end delivery of system improvement opportunities from requirements definition to business case development, through design, testing, implementation planning, through to delivery of business change and benefits delivery
  • Responsible for ensuring our Asset Management Systems enforce the business rules and processes to enable the timely, accurate and efficient recording of data and the delivery of compliant maintenance
  • Responsible for developing and leading a team to deliver outstanding service to stakeholders and ensuring the Asset Systems and Reliability teams KPI's and Service Level Agreements for the nominated asset area(s) are met
  • Ensure team develops its Asset Systems competence, improves its technical knowledge and is keeping up to date with industry developments.
    Identify and manage inter-dependencies with other business areas (e.g. T&D, Materials etc)

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

 

Skills

 

  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to speedily analyse complex situations and formulate appropriate plans and projects to drive improvement.
  • Ability to use Ellipse and Maximo systems and proficient in using MS Office applications.
  • Analytical skills (processes, data, systems).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Planning and tracking of own work and that of a team, effective reporting of progress and ensuring plans are delivered to time, budget and quality.


Knowledge

 

  • Graduate level preferred.
  • Knowledge of Asset Management systems and data structures.
  • Knowledge of the requirement and operation of Ellipse and Maximo an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the structure of London Underground policies and procedures, including awareness of standards and specifications.
  • Ability to gather business requirements and develop solutions in collaboration with business and technical teams.

 

Experience 

 

  • Extensive experience of asset management systems, preferably Maximo or Ellipse.
  • Experience and knowledge of the requirements of the London Underground policies and procedures, including experience and knowledge of standards and specifications.
  • Experience of providing support service to maintenance business and engineering teams.
  • Experience of working with engineering and IT teams in an asset management context.
  • Experience of people management and delivering business improvement initiatives within London Underground.
